SCIENCE FOR PEACE

Paper

The resulting proceedings of workshop will be assigned to the “NATO Science for Peace and Security Series: C – Environmental Security” of which Springer (http://www.springeronline.com) is the official publisher.

To comply with high standard of Springer publication, we have to issue a quality state-of-the-art volume successful in both a scientific and commercial sense. Therefore, only the best, original papers delivered will be included into the proceeding, and not necessarily all.

Each contribution delivered in hard copy and electronic form should not exceed 10 pages (only even number, i.e. 6 or 8 or 10 pages) including abstract, figures, tables and references.

Contributions should strictly follow guidelines for “Preparing an electronic-ready chapter using the Springer NATO template” (NATO-word-instructions.pdf).

This document includes detailed information on required paper structure, formatting of the text and headings, tables and pictures/photographs, etc. Please, do not forget to indicate important words for the Index of the proceeding (chapter 2.6), and for literature overview use Reference style described in chapter 4.1.1.

To simplify your work during preparation of your paper, use NATO.dotTemplate.

The documents above concern manuscript in Word and can be also downloaded from the Springer website: www.springer.com as well as guidelines for those using LaTex or UNIX.

All speakers are requested to provide (preferably during the registration after their arrival) the CD with their PowerPoint presentation.

In order to facilitate access to all scientific/technical contributions published in the NATO SCIENCE SERIES, bibliographic information as well as keywords and abstracts of the individual papers are being introduced into a central data base made available worldwide.

While the publisher of NATO SCIENCE SERIES volume containing your contribution will supply the basic bibliographic information, the author is, no doubt, the most qualified person to select the keywords best describing the content of the paper and to write a condensed summary or abstract for inclusion in the data base.

The total space available for keywords and abstract of your paper is 900 characters (approx. 100 words).  In view of this information and the need to include as many descriptive terms as possible, we suggest to put the emphasis on a good choice of keywords, rather than a broad description of the paper, likely to contain many “dummy” words. In providing this information, please use the scientific/technical terms which you would select if you wanted to retrieve your own paper!

Examples can be found in NATO_ARW_Ohrid_Authors_Database.doc file.
